My name is Alfredo (Al) Vélez Ramos and I live in Fort Worth, TX but my station is in Utuado, PR. I will stay active as W5/WP3C from TX. I'm 44 years old and I have been active in amateur radio since getting my first license in 1995 at the age of 15. Other callsigns that I had: NP3FC, KP3AQ & WP4S. I like DX and contests and I have operated in numerous contests in my station and other stations. When I'm not operating contest or making DX, I like to do CW with Straight Key. My favorite mode is CW, none mode can be compared to CW because making contact via CW is amazing. I founded the Atlantic Contest Club (ACC) - WP4I in 2006, now is NP4DX. Also I am member of ARRL, FOC, FCG, DFW, CWops and SKCC.

 

I’m married to Wanda Esteves – WP4NUL and we have 2 little girls (Karina Zoe & Amaia Isabelle). My dad is also radio amateur his callsign is NP4CW. Now you know a little more about me, thanks and see you in the bands or next contest!
